Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life
Cancer, we’re coming to get you!
Cornwall Race for Life events:
Penzance 29th May 2013
Wadebridge 23rd June 2013
Truro 14th July 2013
Come on ladies, play your part. Let’s hit cancer where it hurts. Enter Race for Life now.
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the UK’s largest women only fundraising event, where thousands of women all round the country come together to share amazing moments and complete 5k to raise money to help beat cancer.
Let’s face it, cancer doesn’t care who it affects. It can ruin everything without a second thought. So let’s show cancer who’s boss. Let’s say enough’s enough. Let’s bring cancer to its knees at Race for Life 2013.
It doesn’t matter how you complete the course. You can run, walk, jog or even dance 5k. Or you can simply sponsor someone. As long as you’re on our side, raising money and fighting all the way. Every penny you raise will help us find cures for over 200 types of cancer. Thanks to our generous supporters and heroic researchers, childhood cancer is a success story in the UK. Back in the 1960s, only around a quarter of children with cancer survived. Today, three quarters are cured and our work has been at the heart of this amazing progress.
Although only ladies can enter the event, there will be plenty of on the day activities for men and boys too and we will also be looking for volunteers to help at events.
So gang up with us now. Run, walk, dance, enter at http://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/index.html
Sensory Trust Community Events
Sensory Trust, in partnership with Arts for Health Cornwall, Alzheimer’s Society and Age UK Cornwall, are hosting three community events in June.
The aim of the events is to support people living with dementia at home, and their family members and carers who support them, by highlighting the benefits of making better use of outdoor spaces (including their own gardens) and nature-based activities in dementia care.
It is also an opportunity to raise public awareness and understanding with the general public who will benefit from getting advice, information and creative ideas in a fun and enjoyable community setting.
Each event will run from 10am – 4pm at the following venues:
• Heartlands Project, Pool – Wednesday 12th June
• Launceston Town Hall – Friday 14th June
• Eden Project – Saturday 15th June
Sensory Trust will be working with volunteers to create inspiring and welcoming spaces with garden themed decorations. An Arts for Health Cornwall creative practitioner will also be inviting everyone at the events to join in a creative activity.
